Hello again for another installment of the Art Challenge Projects. Thank you for checking out and supporting Sara's and my work as we continue to complete these projects.

The idea for this project came from our oldest brother, Neil. He likes to barrage Sara with crazy ideas, hoping one will stick, and this time one did! So, the goal of this project was to depict a meteor crashing into a blue planet in space, and Sara achieved that goal with the awesome piece shown below.

This scene immediately produces the feelings of intensity and grandeur, which are commonly expressed in music, so I thought the path was set. However, there are a few different emotions that can be expressed by intensity, like fear and anxiety but also awe and excitement. That meteor could be destroying lives and homes, or it could just be crashing into a random, lifeless planet in an epic display of nature. I chose the second version.

The story my track depicts is that this scene is taking place during a space exploration mission and the crew of the spaceship is witnessing the crashing meteor as they pass by. The music begins soft and with the main theme of track, depicting the relative loneliness of traveling in space. Then, the music starts to build as the crew spots the approaching asteroid off in the distance but getting closer to the planet. They start to notice that it's not going to pass by the planet and the asteroid begins to crash into the planet's atmosphere as the music swells into a big melody, based on the main theme, with epic drums. Finally, the meteor crashes onto the surface and the energy quickly withers away, leaving the crew of the spaceship only with a memory of the scene in the wide-open of space.
